Home Theater 101: What is a Home Theater?

Posted in Nextdaytechs Blog

The “Home Theater” phrase has been around for a while now, but what is it? Basically a Home Theater is the duplication of a movie theater experience in your own home.

What is a Home Theater?

3.1 Home Theater System

Large flat screen High Definition TV’s, digital Audio receivers and the explosion of Blu-Ray  players, and internet streaming of movies and music have made Home Theater Systems rival any local movie theater. Why spend $10 to $20 per person to see a movie at your local movie theater when you can enjoy the same movie at your home at the fraction of the cost.

There are 3 major components that make a good Home Theater System.

1. Large 50-60 in High Definition TV.

2. A good Digital Audio Receiver.

3. Two or more speakers and a subwoofer.

There a lot more devices you can attach to your Home Theater system, like a Computer, a DVD player, a Blu-ray player, your iphone, your game console etc.

All these devices can be connected to your Home Theater through your wired or wireless home network. There is a big advantage to connect your Home Theater to the internet or your home network because you will be able to stream movies and music directly to your TV and/or speakers.

Services from companies like Netflix or Amazon can stream movies directly to your HDTV through your internet connection.

The Home Theater is here to stay. As larger High Definition TV’s, Digital Audio Receivers became less expensive and high speed internet access spreads a Home Theater System is a must have.
